I never tire of saying it: we need more good theatre for children! Riverside Country is exactly the kind of production I can wholeheartedly recommend to every parent. An excellent adaptation of Rune Belsvik’s story, imaginative set design, a production filled with music and movement, a director who knows precisely what she is creating, for whom and — most importantly — why, and a superb acting ensemble… What more could one ask for when introducing a new generation to the beauty of theatre?

And what emerges is a cosy, utterly charming and wonderfully strange fairy tale, evoking both the Moomins — with its distinctive atmosphere and its illogical yet somehow perfectly appropriate logic — and Smeshariki, with its self-contained world and small cast of characters, each inhabiting a home of their own.
