The Fomenko Workshop’s new production, The Last Will of Charles Adams, or The House of Seven Hanged Men, is precisely this kind of experiment. […] Sergei Plotov has turned this elaborate game of theatrical solitaire into a witty, aphoristic play, layering a seemingly simple story with philosophical ideas. […] Composers Sergei Bogolyubsky and Daria Stavrovich envelop this charming devilry in wonderfully melodic and harmonious music. […] The Fomenko actors display dramatic acting of the highest order.
Victoria Peshkova, Kultura

Quite unexpectedly, Oleg Glushkov’s new production, The Last Will of Charles Adams, or The House of Seven Hanged Men, became a genuine breakthrough for the Fomenko Workshop. […] The stories of Romeo and Juliet and Snow White blend seamlessly with British Gothic and the classic English detective story; the music combines elements of rock opera with French and British musicals, while the visual world, rendered in every shade of grey, evokes vintage comic books. And everything is infused with rich humour and a multitude of elegantly woven quotations and allusions.
Elena Konovalova, Ekran i Stsena

The production never forgets to be an almost perfect piece of musical theatre. The songs are memorable, the dialogue repeatedly makes you laugh, and everything happening on stage is technically accomplished to such a degree that at times one can imagine Adams competing with large-scale Broadway musicals. […] The Last Will of Charles Adams, or The House of Seven Hanged Men is undoubtedly one of the most important theatrical events of the season […] and, given the sheer range of the production, it has every chance of becoming an enduring hit at the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop.
Dmitry Barchenkov, Posta Magazine

The production’s exploration of death, life after death, and the coexistence of the living and the dead within the same space turns out not to be frightening at all. There is Anglo-Saxon black humour here, as well as the Latin American tradition of turning death and the spirits of one’s ancestors into a carnival. […] The Last Will of Charles Adams seems almost ideal material for the Fomenko Workshop: the sheer spirit of play gives the actors room for self-expression and allows the production to build layer upon layer of meaning.
Daria Borisova, Na Zapade Moskvy

Stanislavsky’s famous maxim that there are no small parts, only small actors, applies perfectly to this production. Established stars of the Fomenko Workshop each take on several roles, and everyone performs with passion and exhilaration. It is precisely this polyphony of equally meticulous performances, both “large” and “small,” that creates the wonderful theatrical tapestry called The Last Will of Charles Adams.
Daria Borisova, Na Zapade Moskvy

It is a pleasure to write about a good production that, from the very first day of its premiere, one can wholeheartedly recommend to friends who are tired of negativity and complain that there is nothing left to see in the theatre — that theatre is dead. Theatre is very much alive. […] The Fomenko Workshop’s new production, The Last Will of Charles Adams, is a brilliantly passed test of strength — a test that has become a joyful celebration for everyone involved in making theatre and for the audience alike. It has been a long time since we saw such extraordinary imagination brought to the stage with such verve that the entire auditorium responds with delighted astonishment.
